The Regional Headquarters of PRO 12 at Barangay Tambler is within its jurisdiction. Aside from special and technical staffs and administrative and operational units, the Office maintains a City Mobile Force (CMFC),; SWAT Unit, EOD/K9 Team, Traffic Management Unit (TMU), City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU), Patrol Operation Section (POS) and Tourist Police Unit (TPU).

BRIEF HISTORY OF GSCPO
By authority of PD NR. 181 dated May 1, 1950, during the Administration of former President of the Republic of the Philippines, Elpidio Quirino and the Incumbency of former GSC Mayor Hon. Pedro Acharon Sr., a parcel of land covering more or less 8.5 hectares located at Cahilsot Street, Darimco, Brgy Dadiangas West, General Santos City was utilized as PC Headquarters with reserve area for personnel’s housing program. The area was installed with lone building and used in succession by the following PC Company, 68th PC COMPANY, 101st PC COMPANY, 451st PC COMPANY, 452nd PC COMPANY and 453rd PC COMPANY. on or about 121900h June 1974, a battalion size contingents led by major andres M Superable, OIC, 456th PC COMPANY conducted a combat operation against the reported fully armed member of “blackshirts” at barrio ned complex part of lake sebu, surallah, south cotabato which resulted in an encounter between the government troops and lawless elements leading to death of captain fermin g lira jr together with his two (2) personnel. in this heroic act, the camp was named to CAMP FERMIN G LIRA JR pursuant to G.O. nr 154 dated 21 March 1979 issued by the office of National Defense, GHQ, AFP, Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon City signed by General Rumolo C Espino, AFP, Chief of Staff.
By virtue of PD 661 dated August 8, 1976 during the integration of PC/INP, a Provincial Headquarters building was installed within the premises, wherein captain andres m superable 0-1906, PC was designated as the first Officer in-Charge (OIC), Provincial Commander of South Cotabato PC/INP Command and lately, designated as Provincial Commander.
On July 4, 1994, pursuant to sub para (f), para 3 of the letter directive of the Chief PNP dated June 22, 1994 reorganizing the PNP Provincial/City Command and lower units , the General Santos City Police Station was separated from South Cotabato Provincial Police Command and was renamed as General Santos City Police Office (GSCPO). The South Cotabato Provincial Police Command then transfered its office to Koronadal, South Cotabato whereby the GSCPO took over the camp where it is now presently occupies. The then PSUPT RENATO C SANTOS became the first city director of GSCPO from July 4, 1994 up to May 20, 1995. The following officers are the past and present city directors of this office after the incumbency of PSUPT RENATO C SANTOS.

The General Santos City Police Office is located in Bulaong Ave, Brgy Dadiangas West, General Santos City with a distance of 1 kilometer away from General Santos City Hall, more or less 5 minutes travel by land away from the office.
Location of the City Police Office to other Neighboring Police Units
In the north-eastern part is the Polomolok Police Station with a distance of more less 18 kilometers with more or less 15 minutes travel by land.
In the eastern part is the Sarangani Provincial Police Office (SPPO) with a distance of more or less 20 kilometers in more or less 20 minutes travel by land.
In the south –western part is the Maasim Police Station with a distance of more or less 32 kilometers with more or less 45 minutes travel by land.
The Police Regional Office 12 & rmg 12 is located in south-western part from the chq with a distance of more or less 10 kilometers in more or less 15 minutes travel by land.
